Calico Puzzle Quilt Block

The Calico Puzzle Quilt Block appears to be a humble and simple block, but it’s a workhorse.  When multiple blocks of this block are grouped together, this simple arrangement of half-square triangles and squares creates a design of pinwheels set within sashing and posts. A block like this that creates a sashing when put together with more of the same blocks is called a “self-sashing block.”
