How Can We Help?

Jewel Quilt Block

Skill level: Easy Peasy

At first glance, it doesn’t look like a precious gem, but the Jewel Quilt Block has a surprise up its sleeve.  Technically, this block is just one half of a jewel. Put a few of them together, and rotate every other one.  The result is some interesting diagonal lines that remind me of pieces of candy. I think “bubblegum” might be a more descriptive name. Or maybe “Jolly Ranchers.”

Block Construction

The block goes together very easily.  It’s just three squares and one Half Square Triangle. It works well with just two colors, or it would also work well making each “jewel” pair in a group a different color or shades of the same color (as in an ombre fabric.)
