Cross and Crown Quilt Block

There are several variations of a Cross and Crown Quilt Block. This 5-patch version is the one documented in Jenny Beyer’s book “The Quilter’s Album of Blocks & Borders.” To make matters even more complicated, this design is also sometimes called Goose Tracks, Crossroads, Duck Paddle, Lilies, Flying Darts and Fanny’s Fan. Who knew that one quilt block could go by so many names?

This is another example of a block that creates its own posts and sashing when put together in straight sets. Also, note the secondary design that is created where the blocks meet in the example grouping below:
