It’s a complete mystery as to why this block is called the Double X Quilt Block.  I fail to see even one ‘X’ in the design, much less two! 

Grouping Example

If you thought that the X’s would show themselves when the block is grouped, then think again. Below is an image of the grouping. No ‘X’s’ but it does generate a very pleasing secondary pattern when the blocks are straight set.
